Habitat for Humanity Blitz Build

On Monday, the Kimberley Development team lead a Habitat for Humanity Blitz Build (#birdlandblitz) in Des Moines. It was a hot one, nearing 100 degrees. There were more than 100 volunteers from AmeriCorps dedicating their time as well.

During the Blitz Build, 10 new homes will be dedicated to 10 deserving families this Saturday. When we got onsite at 7:30am, next to none of the exteriors were painted and the interiors were finished with drywall, ready for paint. We spent the day tackling the exterior painting, siding the porch, painting the interior, and setting cabinets. The day was full of fun, sweat, and hard work! We met so many interesting people from all over the country who all joined in to make this project come together and tackle all of this in a days’ work.

GDM Habitat is a nonprofit Christian ministry founded on the conviction that every man, woman, and child should have a decent, safe, and affordable place to live. They seek to put God’s love into action, bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope.
